O.J. Simpson has some advice for Jamal Adams’ Jets squabble

It’s been a rough week for Jets safety Jamal Adams.

He’s been feuding with the team since finding out GM Joe Douglas listened to offers for him before Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline, and everyone seems to have advice for how Adams should handle the situation.

That now includes O.J. Simpson.

The former NFL running back-turned-ex-convict took to Twitter on Thursday — dressed as Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes — to dish out some words of “wisdom” for the rising 24-year-old star.

“Jamal, I know you’re a little disappointed,” he said. “They told you you were the cornerstone and all of that, but you gotta understand: Johnny Unitas, Joe Namath, Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Joe Montana, all of those guys were cornerstones. Facts are, management is gonna do what’s best for them, you know what I mean? No matter what they say for you.

“It didn’t sound like the Jets were trying to fish you out there, use you for bait, they were just listening to what people had to say. I like what you said, you’re gonna play hard for them and guess what — unlike when I played, you’ve got something in your favor: free agency. Maybe one day you’ll be able to play for that team you grew up cheering for.”

His tutelage wasn’t reserved for Adams. Simspon also had some thoughts for embattled Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield, who made headlines this week by storming out of media availability.

“Now, Baker, fellow Heisman winner, you’ve dealt with the pressure, you know better,” Simpson said. “You know that guy didn’t ask you that question for an answer, he asked it for a reaction. And you gave it to him. … Take a page from Bill Belichick when it comes to the media: When they ask a question you don’t like, say, ‘Onto the next question.’ ”

Simpson added a little vote of confidence for the 2018 No. 1 overall pick.

“I’m just saying buddy, everything is going to work out for you.”
